Google Maps ranking
Three businesses appear on the map for any local search. Those three get most of the calls. This service is about putting yours among them for the searches that matter, one search at a time.
Positions are checked from your city, not from our office, and reported every month.

How does Google decide who ranks in the map pack?
Google ranks map-pack results on three things: relevance (how well the profile and website match the search), distance (how close the business is to the searcher or the place named in the search), and prominence (how well known the business is, measured mainly by reviews, citations and links). Ranking work means finding which of the three is holding you back for each target search and fixing that one, because a profile can be relevant and close and still lose on prominence.
Why am I not showing in the map pack?
Usually one of four reasons, and the audit finds which:
- Relevance: the primary category or services do not match the search. A "warehouse" category will not rank for "pallet rack supplier".
- Distance: the searcher, or the city in the search, is too far from your address, and no service areas or area pages tell Google you serve there.
- Prominence: competitors have more reviews, more recent reviews, and more directory listings and links mentioning them.
- Trust: your details disagree across the web, or the profile has a policy problem such as a keyword-stuffed name.
What we do, search by search
Ranking is per search, not per business. "Emergency plumber Tulsa" and "water heater installation Tulsa" are two different contests with different winners. We pick the searches that bring the calls you want, check who holds the map pack for each, and work the gap.
What the audit checks for a ranking problem
Before quoting ranking work we find out which of the three factors is holding you back for each target search, because the fix is different for each.
Mistakes that keep businesses out of the map pack
- Chasing a single broad search ("plumber") instead of the specific searches that convert ("water heater installation Tulsa").
- Adding categories to look bigger. Each irrelevant category dilutes relevance for the ones that matter.
- Buying reviews or asking for fifty in a week. Google notices bursts; a steady rate after each job wins.
- Building a second "location" in a town with no premises. It is a policy violation and the usual reason a whole account gets suspended.
- Pointing every profile link at the home page. A page per service and per metro is where relevance is built.
- Checking rankings from your own office. Google shows different results twenty miles away; the target city is the only view that counts.
What it costs
Maps ranking is the Map Pack plan: $499 a month for one location and up to five target searches, including profile optimization and citation cleanup. Suppliers and installers working across several metros use the Industrial plan at $899, with fifteen target searches across five metros. Month to month.
What the Map Pack plan covers
- Up to five target searches, worked one at a time.
- Competitor analysis for each target search.
- Citation cleanup included, not billed separately.
- A review-request routine after every job.
- One website page a month, written for a target search.
- Positions checked from the target city, not from our office.
How long does Maps ranking take?
Relevance fixes show within weeks. Distance fixes for service-area businesses show once Google recrawls the service areas and the new pages, typically a month or two. Prominence is the slow part: reviews and citations accumulate, and in a competitive metro reaching the top three for a broad search can take months. We report monthly so you see the direction before the destination.
How a target search is worked
- Record the three profiles currently holding it, and what each has that you do not.
- Close the profile gaps first: categories, services, photos, replies.
- Add the page that answers the search, linked from the profile.
- Recheck position from the target city every month, then move to the next search.
Storefront or service area?
If you have no storefront customers visit, the profile must be set up as a service-area business, and the ranking work changes with it.
If the profile is suspended, none of this applies until it is back: that is what GBP suspension and reinstatement covers.

Common questions
How positions are tracked and reported is covered on the FAQ page.
Can you guarantee a map-pack position?
No one can, because Google decides and the result differs by searcher location. What we commit to is the work, tracked from the target city, and a monthly report that shows where each target search stands.
Do I need a website to rank in Maps?
A profile can appear in the map pack without one, but for competitive searches the website is where relevance is built. A page that answers the search, linked from the profile, is usually the difference.
Why do I rank in one town and not the next one?
Distance. Google weighs how far the searcher is from your address. Service areas and area pages on the website extend reach; a second location extends it further.
Will more reviews fix it?
Sometimes. If relevance and distance are right and you are outnumbered on reviews, yes. If the category is wrong, reviews will not help until it is fixed.
Do you track rankings with a tool?
Yes, checked from the target city on a schedule, and we send the positions in the monthly report. We do not send screenshots taken from a location that flatters the result.
Can a business rank in the map pack in two cities?
Only with a real, staffed location in each. Otherwise the second city is reached through service areas and an area page, which can put you in its map pack for some searches but not with the strength of a local address.
What happens to the rankings if we stop?
They do not disappear the day you stop, but competitors keep working, reviews age and citations drift. Most clients who paused came back within a year.
