Warehouse managers do not browse. They search "pallet racking supplier" with a city, call the first dealer that looks real, and ask for a quote. We manage Google Business Profiles and local search for rack dealers so that first call comes to you.
Our longest client relationships are in this industry: United Rack Solutions since 2019, Pallet Storage Solutions, and Atlanta Pallet Rack, all US dealers.

The map pack
How do pallet rack dealers get found on Google?
Through the map pack: the three businesses Google shows on a map for searches like "pallet racking supplier near me" or "used pallet rack" plus a city. A dealer gets into that box by setting the Business Profile's primary category to what the current top three use, listing every product and service, declaring the metros it delivers to as service areas, posting real install photos with locations, collecting reviews from facility managers after each job, and keeping its name, address and phone identical on every directory. The website then earns organic rankings with a page per product line and per metro.

How rack buyers search
Three search patterns, one profile built around them
They show up in every rack dealer's Search Console and profile data, and they decide which products, services and pages the profile needs.
Product plus place. "Pallet racks for sale near me", "used pallet racking near me", "warehouse racking near me", "cantilever racking".
Job plus place. "Pallet rack installation", "rack teardown and removal", "warehouse relocation".
Trust check before the call. Photos of real installs, the review count, and whether the address looks like a warehouse or a mailbox.
5website clicks, 8 monthsThat is all "pallet racks for sale near me" sent to one dealer's website in eight months. The same search fills the map pack above it every day. The profile, not the site, is where it is won.
What is usually wrong
Why is my pallet rack company not showing on Google Maps?
Most dealer profiles were set up once, years ago, by whoever registered the business. Five things are usually wrong.
"Warehouse" or "Industrial equipment supplier" when the businesses winning the map pack use something more specific. The primary category is the single biggest ranking factor on the profile. Profile optimization →A dealer that delivers statewide shows only in its own zip code. Service areas, and pages for the metros you serve, extend the reach without a second location. Service-area setup →Teardrop, structural, cantilever, drive-in, mezzanines, wire decking, installation, teardown. If they are not on the profile, Google has nothing to match a search against. Profile optimization →A dozen reviews, most from years ago, none mentioning a product or a job. We set up a way to ask facility managers for reviews after every install, and reply to each one. Maps ranking →A previous yard, a second phone, a name with "LLC" on some directories and not others. Google trusts a profile less when the details disagree. We find and fix every listing. Citation cleanup →
Categories
Which Google Business Profile category should a pallet rack dealer use?
The one the businesses already winning your search are using. Check the three profiles in the map pack for your main query and match the primary category; the others become secondary categories. For rack dealers the choice is usually among these four.
Material handling equipment supplier. Rack is one line among forklifts, conveyors, shelving. Broadest, most common in the map pack.
Pallet supplier. Pallets and pallet-related products are the main volume, not racking.
Shelving store. Retail-style shelving and light-duty storage sold to walk-in buyers.
Industrial equipment supplier. Mixed industrial catalog where racking is a minority of sales.
The category picker inside the profile is the source of truth; names change. Use it, not a list from a blog.

What to do
Why it matters
Primary category
Match the top three profiles for your main search.
Largest single ranking factor on the profile.
Secondary categories
Add installation, shelving, used equipment where true.
Widens the searches you qualify for.
Products
Teardrop, structural, cantilever, drive-in, push-back, mezzanine, wire decking, each with price range and photo.
Google matches product names against searches.
Services
Install, teardown, relocation, permit drawings, rack inspection, each with a description.
Job-plus-place searches ("rack installation Dallas") need a matching service.
Service areas
Every metro you deliver to, up to the 20 Google allows.
Extends reach beyond the yard's zip code.
Photos
Real installs, the yard, trucks, crew. Location in the caption. Add monthly.
Buyers check whether you look real before calling.
Reviews
Ask the facility manager after every install; reply to each within a day.
Count, recency and product mentions all count.
NAP consistency
Same name, address and phone on every directory and the website.
Mismatches lower trust and can drop the listing.
Website link
Point to a page about racking, not the generic home page.
Relevance signal, and a better landing page for the click.
Can a local rack dealer outrank the national resellers?
In the map pack, yes, because the map pack is local by definition. The national sites win the organic listings below it; the map pack is where a dealer with a yard wins.
Map pack for "pallet racking near me": national resellers rarely appear, no local address. A dealer with a yard is eligible in every metro it serves.
Install and teardown searches: subcontracted and off their profile. Your own crews are listable as services.
Photos and reviews: catalog renders and generic product reviews against real installs and facility managers naming the site.
Organic product terms: theirs, mostly. Winnable per metro with dedicated pages.
The dealer's own profile: 4.9 stars on 31 reviews, the yard's address and phone, products listed. A national reseller has none of this for Berks County.
Google Ads
The same leads for a third of the money
Atlanta Pallet Rack ran Google Ads through 2025 under another agency: $30,411 spent for 900 conversions, at $33.79 each, with an average click costing $11.94. We took the account over on 1 January 2026. In the eight months to August it spent $10,896 for 507 conversions, at $22.42 each, with the average click at $4.39.
Annualised, that is a similar number of leads for roughly a third of the spend. The campaigns were rebuilt around the searches rack buyers actually type, the landing pages were matched to them, and the budget was moved off broad terms that clicked but never called.

Pallet Storage Solutions
Pallet rack dealer
Profile management and local search for a rack dealer competing against national resellers in its metro. The work concentrates on categories, products and install photos, the three things national sellers cannot localize.
What does local SEO for a rack dealer look like in the first 90 days?
Audit. Your profile against the three dealers in the map pack for your main search: categories, services, photos, reviews, citations.
Rebuild the profile. Categories set to what ranks, every product and service listed, service areas for the metros you deliver to, install photos with locations.
Reviews and citations. A review request that goes out after each job, replies to every review, and every directory listing corrected to match.
Website pages. A page per product line and per metro, written for the searches above and linked to the profile, so the site and the profile rank together.
What the first 90 days look like
Weeks 1–2: your profile measured against the three dealers in the pack for your main rack search, from the metros you deliver to.
Weeks 2–5: categories matched to the winners, every rack type and service listed as a product, service areas set for the metros.
Weeks 4–12: install photos captioned by site, a review request after each job, directory listings corrected to one yard address.
From week 6: a page per product line and per metro, so the site ranks where the profile cannot reach.
Questions rack dealers ask
We sell across several states. Does a Google Business Profile still matter?
Yes. Buyers search "pallet racking near me" or "used pallet rack" plus a city even when they will accept delivery from anywhere in the region. Google shows the map pack for those searches, and a dealer not in it is not considered. A profile with the right categories, service areas and products puts you in that box for the cities you actually serve.
Which Google category should a rack dealer use?
It depends on what you sell most and what competitors in the map pack are using. We check the three businesses currently ranking for your main searches and set the primary and secondary categories to match what Google is rewarding in your market, rather than guessing from a list.
We do installs and teardowns too. How is that handled?
Installation, relocation and teardown are listed as services on the profile with their own descriptions, and each gets a page on the website so it can rank on its own. Photos of real installs with the location in the caption do more for those searches than any amount of text.
How long until we see calls from the profile?
Category and service fixes usually show within a few weeks. Moving into the map pack for a competitive metro depends on reviews and citations and takes longer. We report every month with the calls, direction requests and website clicks Google records for the profile.
